| Officiant:
Michael and Catharine
want to thank all of you for sharing in this celebration of their commitment to
each other. As
the tides ebb and flow so do the fortunes of life. Footprints in the sand are
washed away, driftwood moves on its endless quest for a peaceful harbor. Only a
deep and abiding love can with stand the tides of change in two lives.
The love of
this couple, Michael and Catharine is enduring and profound. We gather here to
witness this love and the vows they make to each other.
Today you join
yourselves together for life, as friends and lovers, Husband and Wife. As the
surface of the sea is sometimes calm and often storm tossed, so also, is a
marriage.
Vows
Michael, Repeat after me:
I pledge to you, Catharine, that my love
and my loyalty will weather the storms of life. I will always seek counsel when
I make life decisions, and will respect your needs and concerns. No matter what
course we set, we will do it together.
Catharine, Repeat after me:
I pledge to you, Michael, that my love
and my loyalty will weather the storms of life. I will always seek counsel when
I make life decisions, and will respect your needs and concerns. No matter what
course we set, we will do it together."
Ring Exchange
Michael, place
the ring on Catharine’s finger and repeat after
me: I Michael, give you Catharine, this ring as a symbol of my commitment to
you, as powerful and endless as the sea.
Catharine,
place the ring on Michael’s finger and repeat after
me: I Catharine, give you Michael, this ring as a symbol of my commitment to
you, as powerful and endless as the sea.
Today,
this relationship is symbolized through
the pouring of these two individual
containers of sand one, representing
you Catharine and all that you were,
all that you are, and all that you will ever
be, and the other representing you, Michael,
and all that you were and all that you are,
and all that you will ever be. As these two
containers of sand are poured into the third
container, the individual containers of
sand will no longer exist, but will be joined
together as one. Just
as these grains
of sand can never be separated and poured
again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be."

you, Michael and Catharine have showered our hearts with expressions of your
